Marshall Jensen | Managing Member
Marshall Jensen is a seasoned investment banker, attorney and private equity professional. He has nearly two decades experience working with emerging growth companies, largely within the TMT (Technology, Media and Telecom) and Digital Media sectors. Mr. Jensen has completed in excess of one hundred and fifty financing and M&A transactions in either an advisory (investment bank and legal) or principal investment capacity. From 1996 to 2005, he worked in the investment banking groups of several major and bulge bracket financial institutions including CIBC, UBS and Adams Harkness (subsequently acquired by Canaccord) where he was a Managing Director, Head of the Equity Private Placement Group and later additionally Co-Head of equity Capital Markets. Marshall also spent three plus years (2005 to 2009) at a $100mm+ AUM hedge fund and private equity vehicle (Fort Mason Capital, LLC) were he lead the origination and structuring of numerous TMT-focused private investments and was integrally involved in fund administration matters. Pre-dating his investment banking and principal investment experience, Marshall briefly practiced corporate law as an associate attorney with Shearman & Sterling, supporting clients including Apple Computer, Viacom and Silicon Graphics. Today Marshall continues to advise numerous emerging growth clients as a Principal of DMW Hexagon and additionally serves on the Advisory Board of Digital Media Wire, Inc. Mr. Jensen holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Brown University and JD degree from Columbia University. With an interdisciplinary skillset drawn from investment banking, legal and principal investment / fund administration experience, Marshall brings a process-driven and detail-oriented approach to all his professional endeavors.
Ned Sherman | Managing Member
Ned Sherman is an entrepreneur, attorney and long-standing Digital Media veteran and authority. Having co-founded Digital Media Wire, Inc. in 2000, as CEO, Ned remains actively involved today running one of the largest independent publishing and conference entities focused exclusively on the digital media industry. He is also a practicing attorney and strategic advisor and consultant via DMW Hexagon. Ned has been deeply immersed in the Digital Media Ecosystem for nearly two decades. Prior to founding Digital Media Wire and his independent legal and advisory practices, Ned was a founding member of the iLaw Group in the Entertainment Department at Loeb & Loeb LLP in Los Angeles, where he handled licensing and corporate transactions and financings for media and entertainment clients including Universal Studios and MGM and launched dozens of Internet and new media start-ups. Before that, he was an associate in the corporate/finance department at Mayer Brown & Platt and was also a foreign lawyer at Nishimura & Partners in Tokyo, Japan, where his practice involved international mergers and acquisitions and the formation of technology and entertainment joint venture companies. Mr. Sherman holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Brown University and a JD from University of Texas School of Law. A sought after speaker at industry events, Mr. Sherman has been quoted or profiled in publications including The Wall Street Journal, American Lawyer, LA Times, Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, and Billboard and interviewed and featured on C-SPAN and National Public Radio (NPR). Ned is a current board member of The Technology Council of Southern California and The NAB Show Advisory Council and past judge for the annual Mobile Excellence Awards. He is also founder and creator of the Billboard Digital Entertainment Awards, which he sold to VNU/Nielsen in 2006.
Todd Hellmann has been active in the investment banking and advisory businesses for more than twenty years. Over the course of his career, Mr. Hellmann has had a substantial focus on the TMT (Technology, Media and Telecom) and has supported dozens of companies within communications technology, software and other Digital Media relevant sectors. Mr. Hellmann also has experience working with traditional entertainment sector clients such as professional sports franchises and gaming operators. Todd has completed more than one hundred M&A and capital raising transactions totaling more than $19 billion in transaction value. Prior to founding Hexagon Advisors in 2007, Todd was a founding partner of the Metcalf Group and held senior investment banking positions with several major and bulge bracket financial institutions in San Francisco and New York. On the West Coast Mr. Hellmann worked as an Executive Director within the Technology M&A Group at UBS Warburg and as a Principal in the Technology M&A Group of JP Morgan Chase (and Hambrecht & Quist prior to its acquisition by JP Morgan). Todd also worked in the Investment Banking Group of CIBC Oppenheimer in New York. Mr. Hellmann received a Bachelors Degree in Economics from Brown University.
